i Society of Corporate Planners. Speaker: Philip J. "Are You Ready for the New Economy?", first in a three-part 21st Century Entrepreneur Seminar series sponsored by the Wayne Brown Institute, City Bank, Ernst & Young, state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and Hawaii Strategic Development Corp. Designed for entrepreneurs, prospective entrepreneurs and others associated with investing in or promoting start-ups. The first seminar will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 23 at Maui Research & Technology Center’s Remote Learning Center; and 1-5 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Orchid at Mauna Lani on the Big Island and 8 a.m. to noon at Pacific Tower, 900 Richards St., Honolulu.

The second in the series, "Is Your Company Ready for the New Economy?", how to organize and manage a venture, will be March 21 on Maui, March 22 on the Big Island, and March 23 on Oahu.

The Hawaii Manufacturing Extension Project is offering a workshop for small and medium-sized businesses, Jan. 29-30 in Honolulu, and Feb. 2 on Maui.
