Kalaheo clinches tie for Eastern title

D.C. Daniels scored 19 points and Skyler Wilson added 14 to power the Kalaheo Mustangs to a 92-40 rout of Kaiser and clinch a tie for the Oahu Interscholastic Association’s boys’ Eastern Division basketball title last night at Kaiser’s gym.

The Mustangs (8-0), with two regular-season games remaining, clinched a tie for their seventh East title in eight years. Kalaheo has won 96 of 98 OIA East regular-season games since 1991.

Ikaika Alama-Francis contributed 11 points and Justin Pedrina 10 for Kalaheo, which raced to a 23-9 first-quarter lead and led 43-18 at halftime. The Mustangs hit nine 3-pointers in the game, with Alama-Francis getting three.

Jason Peters led Kaiser (0-8) with 18 points. Jordan Kruetz added 10.
