Double-decked Nimitz a non-starter for sure
Once again, transportation planners have put on the table an idea whose time has long come and gone: double-decking Nimitz Highway as it comes into downtown Honolulu. All it really would accomplish is to move the point of congestion a few miles closer to the urban center. And the trade-off would be huge.

U.S. House tax cut almost purely for show
The nearly $1 trillion tax cut approved by the U.S. House this week was purely for show. Even the most ardent backers of President Bush's tax trimming ideas know that the cuts will be radically changed in the Senate and in the conference committee.
