UH sweeps two matches in water polo

Joanne Ansell scored seven goals yesterday as the University of Hawaii Wahine water polo team won two matches at the Princeton (N.J.) Tournament.

UH defeated Brown, 16-8, and Indiana, 12-6.

Ansell, a freshman utility player, scored five goals against Brown.

Against Indiana, seven Wahine scored goals.

Senior Eko Lapp led the defense with seven steals in two games.


QUARTERBACK CLUB

Fencing demonstration: Fencing champions Robert Becker and Peter Toshkov will put on an epee demonstration tomorrow at the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting at noon at the Pagoda Restaurant.

Becker is chairman of the Hawaii Division, U.S. Fencing Association, and Toshkov, is a four-time Bulgarian national fencing champion.

Also on the agenda are Vince Goo, head coach of University of Hawaii women’s basketball team, and paddling coach Walter Guild of the Outrigger Canoe Club.

UH men’s basketball player Pedrag Savovic and Baldwin girls soccer player Shannon Tabion will be honored as Hawaii Sportspersons of the Month.
