Lottery planned for Haleakala trip

HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK, Maui — A three-day guided backpack trip and service project sponsored by the national park and the Hawaii Natural History Association will be held Feb. 23-25.

A lottery to determine who will go on the trip, which begins near the summit and ends in Kaupo on Maui’s south shore, will be Feb. 2. Twelve people will be selected.

To enter, send number in party (maximum 2), name, day and evening phone numbers and address to: Kaupo Service Project, Haleakala National Park, P.O. Box 369, Makawao, HI, 96768.

A $15 fee is payable after winning the lottery.
