Bicyclist dies after hit-and-run

Advertiser Staff

The 21-year-old man, who was critically injured in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Wednesday morning, died this morning at the Queen’s Medical Center.

The medical examiner identified the man as Theron Keoki Nicodemus, 21, of Ewa Beach.

Nicodemus was cycling toward Ewa Beach on the right shoulder lane of Fort Weaver Road about 12:45 a.m. when he was struck from behind by a van, police said.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Old Ford Weaver Road, less than a mile from the St. Francis Medical Center-West, police said.

Investigators are looking for a dark-colored van possibly similar to a Ford Aerostar. The van sustained front end damage, police said.

Nicodemus was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center with lower body and major head injuries, police said. Police said speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the collision.
