Newspaper ads by the Hawaii Government Employees Association have incorrectly described an administrative bill requesting pay raises for Cabinet members and other officials.
The ads, in The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, said: "What if you found out your boss wanted to raise executive pay up to 29 percent but was unwilling to offer you and your co-workers even one dime more? Thats what the state is doing to me."
The request actually is up to 23.5 percent. HGEA deputy director Randy Perreira said the figures were from an Advertiser story, which incorrectly said the proposed raises were up to 29 percent.
The Advertiser published a correction Saturday, but HGEA did not change the ads.
