Golf Channel series about Hawai'i links debuts today

"Golf Hawaii" will have its 2001 debut today on The Golf Channel. Maui’s Mark Rolfing, an NBC commentator, is host.

A dozen half-hour shows will be aired in the first and fourth quarters of 2001. Each show will be aired four times in a two-week period.

Today’s show will feature Lanai and an interview with 2000 Sony Open in Hawaii champion Paul Azinger. It will be on at 1:30 p.m. in Hawaii, with rebroadcasts Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday next week and Jan. 18.

"Golf Hawaii" and the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau have a Web site for state golf news and information. The address is golfhawaiiinfo.com.

QUARTERBACK CLUB

Nash to speak: Bob Nash, assistant coach of the University of Hawaii Rainbows and a member of the Fabulous Five teams of the early 1970s, will speak at tomorrow’s meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Restaurant in Honolulu; the program begins at noon. Everyone is welcome.

Danny Rudometkin, boys basketball coach at Waianae High School, and Vince Uuloa, girls basketball coach at Waianae, will also speak.

The Quarterback Club will honor the outstanding sports people for December: Veronica Lima, UH Wahine volleyball team, and Siuaki Livai, head football coach, Kahuku High School.
