Small Business Hawaii is holding its 25th annual business conference today in the Hibiscus Ballroom of the Ala Moana Hotel from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to the public, but advance reservations are required. Steve Forbes, president and CEO of Forbes Inc. and editor in chief of Forbes magazine, will be the keynote speaker. Seating is limited. The Hawaii Manufacturing Extension Project is offering a workshop for small- and medium-sized businesses in Hawaii, Jan. 29-30 in Honolulu, and Feb. 2 on Maui. The workshop: "Lean 101: Principles of Manufacturing," will examine some of the biggest issues facing manufacturers today, including how to cut overproduction, wait time and other inefficiencies.
