Best Okazu-ya or Take-out

Kaka'ako Kitchen

Notable: This foam-plate spot is the other half of Russell Siu of 3660 on the Rise, a nod to his local-boy roots. We especially like it for breakfast, because in contrast to most local-style breakfast houses, the coffee is great and everything’s well prepared, never greasy; the yummy orange butter for the muffins is a nice touch. Frequent value promotions.

Menu: Plate lunch (breakfast, dinner) with a difference: more flavorful and sophisticated, more variation in entrees, more healthful options, realistic portion sizes. Menu samples: Portabella Mushroom Burger, Grilled ‘Ahi Steak, Crispy Fried Sweet Chili Chicken, daily specials that range from Tofu Napoleon to meatloaf.
