Man killed in Waipahu industrial accident
An electrician was crushed and killed at about 2 p.m. today while working at the Serta Mattress Co. factory on Leowaena Street in Waipahu. Fire Department crews responded to the 911 call but were unable to save the man. The city Medical Examiner has been called to the scene. A receptionist at Serta would not give details of the accident but would only say, “everyone is real shaken up over here.”

Slain man held victim at gunpoint
The man killed by police Saturday night in the Ala Moana Center parking lot was holding the mother of their young child at gunpoint before he opened fire on police.
